For the first time since 2001, Syracuse football has eclipsed eight wins. With a rivalry day win at Boston College, the Orange are 9-3 in the regular season.

Syracuse star senior quarterback Eric Dungey had a magnificent day against a tough Eagles defense. After leaving the Notre Dame loss early with what looked like a nasty back issue, Dungey surprised many by getting the start today.

He made it count, throwing for 363 yards and three touchdowns, and punching in another three scores on the ground. He was aided by senior running back Dontae Strickland, who had one of his best games in Orange, going for 129 on the ground in the 42-21 win.

Syracuse football's bowl outlook is still a bit up in the air, with a few other key ACC games being played as of this writing.

A loss at Boston College would have made SU more or less a lock to send Syracuse to a third Pinstripe Bowl, and a second trip to Yankee Stadium this year, after last weekend's Notre Dame Shamrock Series game.

The win makes things more interesting.

Because the Orange Bowl is a College Football Playoff semifinal this season, the bowl situation for the ACC is a bit weird. Had SU finished Top 12 in the College Football Playoff rankings, the Peach Bowl would likely be the spot, but at No. 20 this week, they'll probably be a bit outside.

That makes the Camping World Bowl in Orlando the most likely destination. Heading into the week, that was a popular choice in various bowl projections.

Both ESPN analysts have Syracuse heading to Orlando. Kyle Bonagura has SU against West Virginia, while Mitch Sherman has them facing Iowa State.

247Sports has the same ISU match-up. Bleacher Report has Syracuse taking on the Texas Longhorns, though Tom Herman's team can vault itself into the New Year's Six if it beats Oklahoma for the second time this year, in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Other projections from earlier in the week were heavy on the Pinstripe Bowl, with potential games against Purdue, Michigan State, and other mid-tier Big Ten squads. That would be much more likely with a loss by the Orange today, but remains in play, as the bowl would love to bring in a team with a huge local alumni base like SU.

The Music City Bowl and Sun Bowl are also options, but seem less likely. However, with the ACC being a mess in the middle, and teams like NC State and Pitt still playing, there is still some stuff that needs to be sorted out.
