Syracuse is in the NCAA Tournament field, per just about every major analyst and bracketologist. However, the Orange could definitely use a solid performance in the ACC Tournament to bolster things.
That may have just become a much more daunting task. Moments ago, Syracuse.com reporter Mike Waters broke the news that SU’s top player, All-ACC shooting guard Tyus Battle, will miss tonight’s game against Pitt.
The Orange are set to face the Panthers in the late game of tonight’s ACC Tournament. The game will begin shortly after the conclusion of the 7 p.m. Louisville-Notre Dame game.
Tyus Battle won’t play for Syracuse tonight, per a source. https://t.co/gXXWuCUdg2

As Syracuse.com’s Chris Carlson notes, Battle took a hard fall during SU’s regular season finale loss to Clemson. He played 35 minutes that night, but was just 3-of-11 from the field for 10 points, an incredibly disappointing outing for the junior.
On the season, Battle leads Syracuse with 17.2 points per game. He has also served as a de facto point guard given some of the struggles that senior Frank Howard has had leading the Orange this season.
So far, it is unclear who will start in place of Tyus Battle for Syracuse against Pittsburgh.
The team could insert Marek Dolezaj into the lineup, and slide small forward Elijah Hughes up to the shooting guard position.
Buddy Boeheim, the sharp-shooting son of Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, is also an option. He’s been a valuable weapon off the bench for the Orange.
The winner of Syracuse-Pitt will face Duke on Thursday night.
