Boston College has beaten the current kings of college basketball in overtime by a score of 62-59. That’s right, No. 1 Syracuse has been taken down by an unranked opponent.
Syracuse had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Rakeem Christmas couldn’t connect on the Orange’s final shot and the teams headed to overtime tied at 50-50. Once in the extra session, SU was eventually done in by four free throws by junior Lonnie Jackson, who averages 56% from the stripe on the year. The Orange had a chance to tie on the game’s final possession, but Trevor Cooney’s 3-point attempt was short.
Syracuse faces another tough challenge when it tips off against the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils this Saturday.
