Devon Hunter, a four-star safety out of Virginia, will announce his commitment on Christmas Eve.

Some families like to open one Christmas gift on Christmas Eve, to kick off the holiday early. One of five college football programs will be getting a new safety on December 24, as Devon Hunter has chosen to make that his commitment date.

Hunter is choosing between Alabama, Auburn, Florida, North Carolina, and his home state Virginia Tech Hokies.

He cut down his list to that five back in October. He was also considering Clemson, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Tennessee earlier in his recruitment.

247Sports' composite rankings have Hunter at No. 43 overall in the nation. He's the No. 4 safety in the class of 2017, and the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia.

The 247Sports crystal ball prognosticators have Virginia Tech as a heavy favorite to win out for Hunter next month, but with programs like Alabama and Florida in the mix, it will be pretty competitive recruitment.
