Photo: Virginia Tech Will Wear Helmet Sticker Honoring WDBJ Shooting Victims

Virginia Tech unveiled metallic orange alternate helmets today for the season opener against Ohio State next weekend. On those new lids, the Hokies will be wearing a decal honoring reporter Alison Parker and camera man Adam Ward, the journalists from WDBJ in Roanoke who were murdered on Wednesday.

Hokie beat writer Andy Bitter has all the details here. Per Bitter, the stickers will have a personal tribute to Parker and Ward.

The stickers feature the No. 7 (WDBJ's channel) and teal and maroon ribbons, along with the initials of both victims. Teal was Parker’s favorite color, while the maroon ribbon represents Ward, who graduated from Virginia Tech in 2011.

You can get a quick look at the stickers in this photo from Twitter.

Well-done by the Hokies. South Carolina also revealed helmet stickers today, with theirs honoring the nine people killed in the massacre at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., on June 17.
