Notre Dame’s playoff hopes are over after its blowout loss to Michigan last Saturday. But the Fighting Irish still have a lot to play for. A New Year’s Six bowl game remains a possibility.
To get there, Notre Dame must take care of business down the stretch of the regular season. First things first – beat Virginia Tech today.
The Fighting Irish currently hold a 7-0 lead over the Hokies early in the game. But it could’ve been a larger lead had quarterback Ian Book not thrown a horrible interception in the redzone.
On replay of the interception, you can see Book wants to hit the corner route heading into the endzone. But it’s covered by the Virginia Tech defense.
The Notre Dame QB then almost instinctively throws to his receiver running the out route. But the ball travels right to a Hokies defender with the nearest ND receiver a few yards away.
Check out the awful interception in the video below.

Hopefully for Book this won’t come back to haunt Notre Dame. As previously mentioned, the Fighting Irish still have plenty to play for with a NY6 Bowl possibility on the line.
Book will have to see the field better if the Fighting Irish want to win today’s contest.
