Virginia Tech And West Virginia Working On A 2017 Game At FedEx Field

Virginia Tech and West Virginia are set to renew their rivalry in 2021, but the Hokies and Mountaineers might wind up meeting up on the field before that. Oliver Luck told Scout's West Virginia website Blue & Gold News that the two teams are in talks to set up a neutral site game at FedEx Field near Washington, D.C. in 2017.

"That's something we're talking about," Luck said. "Nothing has been finalized, but don't be surprised if there is an announcement at some point."

The two teams last faced off in 2005, when Virginia Tech beat West Virginia 34-17 in Morgantown. The two teams have faced off 51 times, and introduced the "Black Diamond Trophy" to the rivalry in 1997. West Virginia holds a 28-22-1 series lead over Virginia Tech. With this game as a possibly, and the other series starting a few years after, these two former Big East rivals could be getting very familiar with one another once again.
