ESPN's Pablo Torre Picks 16-Seed Coastal Carolina To Upset 1-Seed Virginia

ESPN columnist and television personality Pablo Torre isn't going to be making any friends in Charlottesville, Virginia any time soon. Today, on Around The Horn, Torre predicted that 16-seed Coastal Carolina will be the first team to ever knock off a 1-seed in its first game in the NCAA Tournament. That would make the Chanticleers' victim the Virginia Cavaliers.

To be fair, Torre also predicted a 16-seed over a 1-seed last year. That didn't happen.

Torre took to Twitter afterwards, showing his "bracket" to his followers. He also explained his reasoning.

Torre's right about this being the "year of parity" - there is no clear favorite for the tournament. But UVA is one of the best defensive teams in the nation and is surprisingly the 25th best offensive squad - at least according to KenPom's efficiency rankings. Don't expect him to be the one saying "I told you so" Friday night.
