The early-season ACC basketball contest between North Carolina and Virginia, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, has been shifted to Sunday, Dec. 8.
News of the move was announced by the ACC this morning. The Tar Heels and Cavaliers will tip off at 4 p.m. ET on Dec. 8 from John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va.
ACC Network will broadcast the action.

Judging by the above press release, it seems the game was moved because Virginia still has a shot at winning the ACC Coastal Division in football. If the Cavaliers, who are 5-2 in ACC play and 7-3 overall, win the Coastal, they will face Clemson in the ACC Championship Game in Charlotte on Dec. 7.
Logistically, it makes sense to move the game to Sunday for that reason. However, fans won’t be happy that a premier matchup between two of the league’s best programs is being relegated to the ACC Network.
UNC-Virginia is the only ACC men’s basketball game scheduled for Dec. 8. Duke will play at Virginia Tech on that Friday, Dec. 6, with Syracuse and Georgia Tech and NC State and Wake Forest facing off the following day.
