Wake Forest Discovers Team Radio Analyst Leaked Confidential Game Prep Info

File this one away in the "too insane to be made up" category.

An internal investigation at Wake Forest concluded that Demon Deacons football radio analyst Tommy Elrod "provided or attempted to provide confidential and proprietary game preparations on multiple occasions, starting in 2014."

As you might guess, Elrod has been terminated from his position and banned from Wake Forest athletics. A former player at Wake from 1993-97, Elrod was a staff member at his alma mater for over a decade.

He was not retained by current head coach Dave Clawson in 2014, and subsequently began his broadcasting duties. Apparently, he also then set out to avenge a vendetta against the program by acting as a mole.

The whole situation is beyond bizarre. By the way, #WakeyLeaks is an incredible hashtag, but we digress.

This all began to come to a head after Wake Forest's 44-12 loss to Louisville. Clawson was concerned about a "security breach" of his team's game plan after documents reportedly were discovered by a Wake Forest staffer at Papa John's Stadium.

As it turns out, things ran much, much deeper than just one game. Incredibly, it seems like Elrod carried all of this out himself.

Despite having this added handicap, Clawson was able to lead the Demon Deacons to a 6-6 record this season and a berth in the Military Bowl.

The six victories were the highest total the Deacs have had in five years.
