Columnist Tells Paul Finebaum That Baylor Source "Wouldn't Be Suprised" If Art Briles Is Fired

On the field, Art Briles has turned Baylor from a laughing stock into a national power and potential contender for a national title. Off the field, over the last few years things have gone extremely poorly. Earlier this month, star defensive end Shawn Oakman was accused of sexual assault, and this week, it was discovered that he had previously been accused of domestic violence by an ex-girlfriend in 2013. This comes after two separate Baylor players—Tevin Elliott and Sam Ukwuachu—have been convicted of sexual assault since 2014.

Briles has drawn serious criticism for his program's off-field transgressions, and now according to one local columnist, he is on thin ice and could even lose his job over these issues. Fort Worth Star-Telegram writer Mac Engel went on the Paul Finebaum show today, and revealed that a Baylor source told him that Briles' job is not secure.

It is hard to imagine a coach like Briles being fired, but the criticism of he and his program continues to build, and is very legitimate.
