Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings Makes Pitch For SMU To The Big 12

The Big 12 may be facing opposition from ESPN and FOX when it comes to expansion, but the league certainly has no shortage of programs that want in the conference. Monday, a prominent politician in Texas made his voice heard regarding which school he thinks should be at the top of the list.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings took to Facebook with a number of bullet points regarding why Southern Methodist University - SMU - should be invited. He notes geography, travel, academics, fans, money and the job market in his note.

Of course, SMU is located in Dallas, so he's a bit biased. But it's an interesting marketing pitch, nonetheless.

SMU is currently part of the American Athletic Conference, but it does have history with former Southwest Conference schools Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech. We'll see if Rawlings can make a difference.
