The bad headlines out of Waco continued on Monday night.
As the school remains embroiled in the fallout from a sexual assault scandal, news broke that a Baylor strength coach, Brandon Washington, was arrested early Saturday on a misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution charge.
According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, the 33-year-old Washington was fired from the university after it learned of the charge.
A Baylor statement from the Baylor athletics department sent late Monday reads, in full: “After a full criminal background check was completed and cleared, Brandon Washington was recently hired as an assistant in the Football Strength and Conditioning area. Baylor was notified on February 4 of Brandon Washington’s arrest and terminated his employment immediately that day.
“When we arrived at Baylor we made a commitment to character and integrity in our program, head coach Matt Rhule said. “Brandon’s actions are completely unacceptable. We will not tolerate conduct that is contradictory to these values.”
While this alleged indiscretion isn't on the same scale as what is alleged to have gone on in the Baylor program, it is another bad look for the Bears.
We'll update you if anything more comes out regarding Washington's arrest.
