Iowa State is apparently Baker Mayfield’s daddy now. Who knew?
In 2011, Iowa State ended Oklahoma State’s national championship aspirations in Ames with a 37-31 win. While it is too early to call right now, the Cyclones may have just done the same to OU in Norman, 38-31.
Iowa State knocked off Oklahoma despite losing its starting quarterback ahead of the game. Quarterback-turned-linebacker Joel Lanning wound up playing significant snaps on both sides of the ball, while second string quarterback Kyle Kempt went 18-for-24 for 343 yards and three touchdowns.
After forcing a Baker Mayfield incompletion to wrap up the win, an Iowa State defender was picked up by FOX mics taunting the Sooners quarterback.

Mayfield had an impressive statistical day of his own, completing 24-of-33 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns, and an additional 57 yards and score on the ground, but it wasn’t enough to out-duel Kempt and Lanning.
