Iowa State University police have confirmed a very disturbing moment during yesterday’s Cyclones game. During the first half of the ISU game against Oklahoma State, a fan fell from the upper deck.
Per a report from the Des Moines Register, the Iowa State fan fell at least 25 feet down to a club seating area at Jack Trice Stadium. The fan was then stretchered away, and taken to the emergency room at Mary Greeley Medical Center.
The fan’s identity and status have not been released. Via the Register report:
“The police chief is confirming a fall at the stadium,” Angie Hunt, interim director of the Iowa State news service, told the Register on Sunday.
When asked for more details, Hunt said:
“Police aren’t commenting beyond confirming someone fell, and that they’re continuing to investigate.”
When asked by the Register about the incident, Iowa State University Police Chief Michael Newton declined to comment, saying “it is currently an open investigation.”
We’ve seen this happen at other games in the past, but this is reportedly believed to be the first time it has happened at Iowa State’s Jack Trice Stadium.
We’ll have more on the fan’s status as it is released. We hope that the Cyclones fan can recover from the horrifying incident.
ISU lost Saturday’s game at Jack Trice Stadium 34-27 in front of a sellout crowd of 61,500 in Ames.
