At long last, the Kevin Love/Andrew Wiggins mega-trade became official on Saturday, and the former Kansas star now has the awkward distinction of never playing for the franchise that drafted him. Fellow Jayhawk rookie Joel Embiid took to Twitter, as he is wont to do, to reassure his former teammate that everything would work out. In doing so, he compared Wiggins to Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, who was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, only to be traded to the Lakers a few days later.

While the likelihood that Wiggins becomes the next Kobe is slim, he may still be a star for the Minnesota Timberwolves, even if it is disappointing that the Cavaliers dealt him before even seeing what he can do in the pros.
