He was one of the top JUCO players in this year's class.
Kansas running back Octavius Matthews' career is over.
The No. 1 JUCO athlete in 2017 will not suit up for the Jayhawks due to an undisclosed health issue, according to head coach David Beaty.
Beaty revealed the news on his radio show tonight.
From the Kansas City Star:
“Octavius Matthews will not be with us this year, and as a matter of fact, he won’t be with us at all in terms of on the field,” Beaty said, “but he certainly will be part of our program as we move forward.”
Earlier in August, Beaty said Matthews was being held out while waiting on the results of medical tests.
A one-time Auburn commit, Matthews was considered a signing day coup for the Jayhawks. Now, his career is done, but fortunately his health remains intact.
Best wishes to him.
