Markese Jacobs, a four-star point guard in the 2019 class, announced his commitment to the Kansas Jayhawks after attending this weekend's 'Late Night at the Phog' event.
Jacobs announced the commitment on Sunday afternoon, announcing the move to join Bill Self's program.
Jacobs still has a decent amount of time before he officially joins the KU program, as a class of 2019 recruit. He is the first member of that Jayhawks' class.
After making the announcement, he told Scout that he believes he fits the bill as a KU guard.
"I feel like Kansas is the school I’ve always wanted to go to. I feel like they go through their guards. They are a great guard team. I feel like I fit their category in their guards."
A young player, Jacobs has not been rated by all of the recruiting services yet. 247Sports' internal site rankings to have him as a four-star player, and the No. 1 Illinois recruit in the 2019 class.
2019 is still a few years away, but Bill Self's class is off to a nice start.
