Choosing just five former Kansas players and picking an all-time starting lineup is no easy task. But former Jayhawk star Paul Pierce is up to the challenge.
Pierce joined ESPN’s NBA Countdown alongside Maria Taylor, Jay Williams and Jalen Rose to talk hoops on Tuesday evening. With the NBA season currently postponed, Pierce had the opportunity to pick an all-time starting five with former Kansas players.
To no surprise, the former Jayhawk and Celtics star chose himself. Other inclusions include Wilt Chamberlain, Joel Embiid, Danny Manning and Mario Chalmers.
Agree with Pierce’s Kansas starting five, Jayhawk fans? Pierce makes a valid argument for his selections in the video below:

Plenty of KU fans believe JoJo White should’ve made the team over Mario Chalmers. But either is a solid choice and it’s impossible to forget Chalmers’ elite play during the Jayhawks’ national championship run in 2008. Chalmers has also had a fairly successful career in the NBA.
So many legendary players have played for Kansas throughout the years – but Chamberlain is without a doubt the best to put on a Jayhawks uniform, not to mention he’s one of the greatest NBA players ever.
Pierce’s all-time starting five wouldn’t lose to many other all-time teams. Just goes to show how many all-time greats have suited up for Kansas over the years.
