Earlier this year, Kansas’ 2022 recruiting class got their first player when five-star forward Tre White committed to the Jayhawks. But now it looks like the Bill Self and the Jayhawks are back to square one.
Taking to Twitter on Friday, White announced that he would be decommitting from Kansas. In his statement, White explained that wants to go through the entire recruiting process before making a final decision.
…I have decided to open up my recruitment and go through the entirement recruitment process and make a decision on the college that best fits my academic and basketball needs to help me reach all the goals I have set in my life…
247Sports rates White as the No. 28 prospect in the country for the Class of 2022. He is the No. 8 small forward in the nation, and the No. 2 prospect from the state of Texas.

Of course, there’s no telling what the rest of Tre White’s recruiting process will yield. He could wind up right back at Lawrence on a permanent basis when all is said and done.
White was the first major prospect from the Class of 2022 to announce his commitment decision. No other Power Five program has a top commitment at this time.
To date, only a few dozen prospects in the Class of 2021 have announced their own commitments.
