Auburn vs. Kansas State – Game Time, TV Schedule, Line, Preview, Predictions

College football fans are getting an early treat this week, as No. 5 Auburn is set to head to play Kansas State on the road for a Thursday night affair. The Tigers look every bit as lethal on offense as they did a year ago, and they will pose quite a challenge for the Wildcats. That being said, home field advantage could play a huge role in the outcome.

Kansas State has only played two games - the Wildcats knocked off Stephen F. Austin in week one and survived a slugfest with Iowa State in week two - so they'll be very well-rested when the Tigers come to town. They made need it, considering the ridiculous pace of Gus Malzahn's offense.

Betting Line: Auburn -8.5 via 5Dimes

Prediction: As we've noted, Auburn's schedule is one of the most difficult in the nation. Part of it is because of its SEC slate, and part of it is because of this game. The Tigers have the challenge of heading into Manhattan, Kansas and playing a ranked team that has had two weeks to prepare for their arrival. That being said, Auburn is also coming off of a bye.

It's certainly difficult to mimic what Auburn's offense can do in practice, but you can bet KSU has watched hours of film on these guys. The Wildcats will be prepared, at least schematically. The reality, however, is that Kansas State is going to need to score 30 points to have a shot at beating Auburn. The Tigers have only failed to reach the mark once since Malzahn took over - a 35-21 loss to LSU. They're 14-1 otherwise, with the only loss coming in the national title game.

Kansas State will need Jake Waters to play a mistake-free game. They'll also need to chew up as much of the clock as possible to keep the Tigers off the field. In the end, while we think the Wildcats will put up a good fight, there is too much firepower in Auburn's arsenal. We'll take the Tigers to win and cover the spread.
