Video: Baker Mayfield Ran Around Waving Giant Oklahoma Flag After Beating Texas

Baker Mayfield waving the Oklahoma flag in the air after beating Texas.

Baker Mayfield was pretty pumped after leading Oklahoma to a huge 45-40 win over archrival Texas in today's Red River Showdown.

After his Sooners held on, dropping the Longhorns on a long hook-and-ladder on the game's final play, quarterback Baker Mayfield grabbed a giant Oklahoma flag and waved it while running across the field, and through a large group of Longhorn players.

Mayfield had two early interceptions in the game, but wound up putting up some pretty impressive numbers against Texas' porous secondary. He completed 22-of-31 passes for 390 yards (good for a gaudy 12.6 yards per attempt), and three touchdowns. He also ran four times for 20 yards and a score.

Oklahoma received big offensive contributions from all phases. Dede Westbrook had a monster game, catching 10 balls for 232 yards and all three of Mayfield's passing scores. Samaje Perine lumbered for 214 yards on 35 carries, and reached the end zone twice.

With the win, Oklahoma goes to 3-2 on the year, and 2-0 in the Big 12, keeping conference title chances very much alive. The Sooners also get revenge for last year's shocking upset loss to the Longhorns, the team's only loss until the College Football Playoff semifinals. Texas is now 2-3, and 0-2 in Big 12 play, after getting blown out at Oklahoma State last weekend. Losing to Oklahoma by five is hardly an embarrassing result, but considering Charlie Strong's hot seat status, we doubt that this did much to quell many fans' concerns with the program.

On the season, Mayfield has 1,476 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, three rushing scores, and just four interceptions. He's thrown for at least two touchdowns in every game this season thus far. Next weekend, Oklahoma hosts Kansas State. Texas hosts Iowa State at 7 p.m. E.T. next Saturday.
