The Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma didn't need to add fuel to the fire, but that's exactly what Baker Mayfield did on Wednesday.

Although Mayfield's days of playing for the Sooners are over, the former Heisman Trophy winner continues to represent his alma mater. He also keeps blasting the Longhorns in the process.

Instead of targeting the fans at Texas or using the "Horns Down" gesture, Mayfield went out of his way to comment on one player in particular.

During his appearance on Sportstalk 1400AM, Mayfield had more than a few words to share about Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger.

"Westlake is a great program, but the two best quarterbacks to come out of there are Drew Brees and Nick Foles. Sam can stay down there in Texas," Mayfield said. "That will stir the pot. He doesn't like me and I hope he knows I don't like him either."

Listen to Mayfield's commentary on Ehlinger and the Longhorns here:

Ehlinger received criticism from Mayfield for claiming that Texas football is back after the team's victory in the Sugar Bowl.

Oklahoma has dominated the Big 12 in recent years, which includes a win in the conference championship last season.

If Texas is going to establish itself as a contender and prove Mayfield wrong, then Ehlinger's play will most likely be the reason why.
