Baker Mayfield Announces That He Will Return To Oklahoma For 2017 Season

Baker Mayfield will be back for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2017, and he is aiming for a national championship.

The Sooners star had a nice game this afternoon, wrapping up Oklahoma's 10-2 regular season and second straight Big 12 championship with a 38-20 win over Oklahoma State. Mayfield was 13-for-19 for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Even more importantly, after the game he officially announced that he will return to Oklahoma next season.

Mayfield likely makes Oklahoma a top five or 10 teams heading into next season. He will also be on every Heisman list entering the year. Of course, the 2016 season is not over, and the Sooners are in line for a nice New Year's Six bowl appearance this winter.

On the season, Mayfield is 235-for-330 for 3,669 yards, 38 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions, as well as 143 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground.
