The Big 12 was the only major conference without a playoff participant last year, but in 2015, it certainly looks like history will not repeat itself. The league currently has three undefeated teams - Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma State - and a fourth, Oklahoma, with just one loss. Furthermore, as you'll see below, the conference now has the three top spots in ESPN's FPI.
Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma are 1-2-3. Ohio State is the highest-ranked non-Big 12 school, at No. 4. Oklahoma State is No. 14.
Here's a reminder of what the FPI measures.
The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.
Alabama is currently the top-ranked SEC squad. USC, at 5-3, is the highest Pac-12 team, at No. 5. Clemson, the ACC's top dog, is No. 7.
