Bill Bedenbaugh, Oklahoma's offensive line coach, reportedly cursed out Texas fans in the stands at today's Red River Showdown.
Things are getting pretty heated in the Cotton Bowl at today's Oklahoma-Texas game. According to a Texas fan in attendance, Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh cursed out some Texas fans in the stands.
According to other fans at the game, Texas fans were booing injured Oklahoma players on the field, which is never a classy move.
If true, there are no real winners here. Texas fans are not the first fan base to boo players who are injured. Many fan bases whose teams run up-tempo offenses will do so if they suspect opposing players are going down on defense to slow things down. That doesn't make it better. And obviously, Bill Bedenbaugh and other Oklahoma coaches on the sideline need to keep their cool, even in a big rivalry game like this.
Oklahoma leads Texas 14-10 late in the second quarter at the Cotton Bowl. Baker Mayfield hit Dede Westbrook for a 71-yard touchdown to put the Sooners ahead. Samaje Perine has 87 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Texas has struggled offensively, but safety Dylan Haines has two huge interceptions off of Baker Mayfield.
The Red River Rivalry is being broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
