Bob Stoops Confirms Oklahoma Has Appealed For DGB To Gain Immediate Eligibility, Wanted To Give WR 2nd Chance

The transaction of the college football offseason occurred in mid-June, when it was reported that former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was transferring to Oklahoma. The former Tigers' standout was dismissed from Gary Pinkel's program in April.

Today, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is speaking at Big 12 Media Days. One of the first comments Stoops made about his 2014 team concerned Green-Beckham. The Sooners' coach confirmed that Oklahoma has appealed the NCAA to allow DGB to play immediately.

If Green-Beckham were to gain immediate eligibility, the Sooners' chances of contending for a College Football Playoff berth would, of course, significantly increase. As one of the most talented wide receivers in the country, Green-Beckham would help an offense that lost three of its four top wide outs from the 2013 season.

Oklahoma is expected to start the season ranked in the top five.
