Bob Stoops Makes Some Surprising Remarks Concerning Oklahoma's QB Competition

Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops wants people to pump the breaks when assuming Baker Mayfield has won the starting quarterback job for the Sooners.

After transferring from Texas Tech and sitting out the entire 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, the 6-foot-2, 214-pound junior is believed to be the favorite to win the job. But Bob Stoops isn't quite there yet.

While at Texas Tech in 2013, Mayfield threw for 2,315 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions before deciding to transfer. While most believe him to be the favorite, Stoops says there are other quarterbacks in the mix that need not be forgotten.

Trevor Knight started 10 games for the Sooners in 2014, throwing for 2,300 yards, 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while Cody Thomas threw two touchdowns and four interceptions in three starts.

At this point, it's hard to imagine Stoops will make his decision known until the end of fall camp.
