On Friday morning, ESPN published a list of the top head coaching candidates for the NFL in 2019. Not surprisingly, a few college coaches made the list - including the ever-present Jim Harbaugh.

The goal of the article was simple: have ESPN's panel of NFL experts act as a general manager and rank the top head coaching candidates who are not currently NFL head coaches.

Here's the top-five they came up with:

  1. Lincoln Riley, HC, Oklahoma head coach
  2. Josh McDaniels, OC, New England Patriots
  3. Vic Fangio, DC, Chicago Bears
  4. Mike McCarthy, Free agent
  5. Jim Harbaugh, HC, Michigan

You can see the full list here.

Riley is the top head coaching candidate despite his claims that he's not interested in coaching at the professional level just yet. However, as long as the Cleveland Browns job remains open, analysts will continue to predict a reunion between Riley and former Oklahoma star Baker Mayfield.

For now, Riley is focused on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
