Ex-OU Star Tweets About Trevor Knight Being In A “Real Conference” Now

Last year, Trevor Knight lost his starting job at Oklahoma to Baker Mayfield, who took the reins and ran with them, throwing for 3,700 yards and 36 touchdowns and leading the Sooners to the College Football Playoff. After the season, Knight transferred to Texas A&M. .

While Knight is in line to start for the Aggies, Mayfield is a Heisman candidate entering the 2016 campaign. Still, in the eyes of former Oklahoma star Tony Casillas, the gap between the two isn't very wide at all. In fact, Casillas seems to think Knight might still be the better QB.

On Sunday night, Casillas tweeted a shot at Mayfield and said Knight may be better than him now that he's playing in the SEC, "a real conference." Casillas took down the original but re-posted it, verbatim, yesterday.

Naturally, he took some heat from OU fans for his opinion. No disrespect to Knight, but it's kind of odd to see Casillas take a jab at the quarterback from his alma mater and the conference they play in.

We're going to guess that Tony isn't hoping for Big 12 expansion.
