Former Oklahoma Wideout Says Jay Norvell Played Favorites, Mike Stoops Is Next To Be Fired

Oklahoma's lopsided Russell Athletic Bowl loss to Clemson has set off an interesting chain of events in Norman. With fans clamoring for change, head coach Bob Stoops has already fired co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell. And according to a number of sources, there are only a few assistant coaches who have job security. Mike Stoops, the team's defensive coordinator, who also happens to be head coach Bob Stoops' brother, has perhaps been the most criticized of all.

Well, one former Sooners wide receiver, Dejuan Miller, is offering some interesting insight Monday morning. Miller, who played for OU from 2008-2011, went on a bit of a rant about Norvell, claiming that the former Sooners coach played favorites. He said that he's also heard that Mike Stoops is next on the chopping block.

Miller, who now plays for the Tri-Cities Fever of the Indoor Football League, started eight games as a sophomore, one as a junior and four as a senior, so it's clear that his role in the offense didn't really increase over time. Given his frustration, it's hard to know how much stock to put into his rant. That being said, it's eye-opening.
