Sterling Shepard leaves Oklahoma after a fantastic college career, during which he caught 233 passes for 3,482 yards and 26 touchdowns. He finds himself in an NFL Draft that has a number of high-profile wide receivers, notably Ole Miss' Laquon Treadwell, Baylor's Corey Coleman, and TCU's Josh Doctson. Shepard is not the biggest wide receiver, but he has solid speed and excellent route running, and is a very consistent player.
Where will the popular Sooner pass catcher wind up at the next level? Here are the teams that many NFL Draft experts predict will take him in recent mock drafts.
Bleacher Report (Matt Miller):Round 2, No. 60 overall – New England Patriots
CBS Sports (Dane Brugler): Round 2, No. 62 overall – Carolina Panthers
CSN Mid-Atlantic: Round 2, No. 60 overall – New England Patriots
DraftSite.com (DJ Boyer): Round 2, No. 62 overall – Carolina Panthers
DraftTek.com: Round 3, No. 79 overall – Philadelphia Eagles
Sports Illustrated (Chris Burke): Round 2, No. 43 overall – Los Angeles Rams
Walter Football (Walter Cherepinsky):Round 3, No. 79 overall – Philadelphia Eagles
The Patriots and Panthers are attractive landing spots for anyone, as they will both be playing for a Super Bowl and can both use some receiver help, while the Eagles and Rams would both give Shepard the chance to grow with rookie quarterbacks. Both teams have made blockbuster trades to move up to the top two picks of the first draft.
