He may be out of Nick Saban's shadow, but Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts has been channeling the personality of his former coach at Alabama on a regular basis.

Case in point: At his press conferences today, Hurts limited all of his answers to short, mostly seven-word-or-less responses.

“I don’t know what to tell you.”

“I don’t want to get into it.”

“You know, y’all never ask me about the opponent we’re about to play.”

Those answers are about as Saban-like as they come in the landscape of college football.

Hurts has also frequently taken a page out of his former coach's book when referring to praise. He often shrugged off praise of him or his team by referring to it as "rat poison" - as Saban once called it.

Hurts joined the Oklahoma Sooners as a grad transfer this past year, and has quickly established himself as a Heisman Trophy candidate.

He leads FBS is passing yards per attempt and passer efficiency, and ranks in the top 10 of almost every major category.

Ultimately, you can take Jalen Hurts away from Nick Saban, but you can't take Nick Saban's influence out of Jalen Hurts.

It'll be interesting to see if the Sooners and Crimson Tide face off in the College Football Playoff...
