Earlier Wednesday morning, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum made headlines when he suggested the entire country doesn’t want to see Utah make the College Football Playoff.
“Let’s be honest, the country does not want to see Utah in the College Football Playoff. I’m sorry. It’s Utah,” Finebaum said about the Utes. He suggested Oklahoma should make the playoff over Utah if the Sooners take down Baylor this weekend.
A fellow college football analyst wasn’t happy with Finebaum’s take. FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt called Finebaum out for his comments.
“Come on…Paul Finebaum, this an absurd take. This might be your position, but to suggest that the “country” feels this way is not right. Also, to suggest that Oklahoma will look “a lot” better is not accurate either. If you haven’t watched Utah just say it and move on,” Klatt said.

Utah isn’t the sexiest team in the country, but the Utes are one of the best on both offense and defense. While the program doesn’t have the national brand of an Oklahoma, Utah might just be better than the Sooners.
A win over Oregon in the Pac-12 title game likely puts the Utes in the playoff – unless Georgia takes down LSU in the SEC title game.
