When Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was picked No. 9 overall in tonight's MLB Draft, it made many wonder if he would give up his football career. Now, we have an answer.

Oklahoma fans can breathe easy. Murray officially confirmed with reporters tonight that he will be playing football this fall.

In fact, Murray said the Oakland Athletics, the team that picked him, have given him the approval to suit up on Saturdays for the Sooners.

This is significant, considering Murray will be signing for nearly $5 million as the No. 9 pick.

Now that Murray has gotten this out of the way, the next step for him will be replacing Baker Mayfield as Oklahoma's quarterback. Those are some big shoes to fill.

Murray did show some of his skills in a backup role last season, and Mayfield praised him extensively today.

Now we'll see if he can live up to the expectations. Hopefully he does that and stays healthy, so his baseball career won't be affected.
