Oklahoma hosted one of the top graduate transfers in the country on an official visit this weekend: former Notre Dame defensive end Jay Hayes.
This evening, Hayes announced he will officially transfer to Oklahoma to finish his college career. The former four-star recruit will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Hayes can play immediately and should provide a major boost in production and experience for the Sooners this season.
Here is his tweet announcing the move.

After burning his redshirt late in the 2014 season, Hayes did redshirt in 2015. His role was sizable in 2016 as he played in 10 games.
Last fall, Hayes started all 13 games for the Fighting Irish. He registered 27 tackles, four quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one sack.
Hayes announced his decision to transfer earlier this month. He will graduate in May.
Oklahoma will open its 2018 season at home against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 1.
