University Of Oklahoma Releases Statement On Joe Mixon Video

The University of Oklahoma released a statement Friday evening after the video of Joe Mixon punching a woman in a 2014 incident was released.

Video of Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon punching fellow student Amelia Molitor was made public today after the Oklahoma Supreme court ruled 8-1 for its release earlier this month. The assault broke several bones in Molitor's face, requiring hospitalization and surgery. Molitor is currently suing Mixon in Oklahoma City federal court.

The University of Oklahoma released an official statement regarding the matter:

Mixon served a year of probation, served 100 hours of community service and underwent counseling after the incident. Both Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and athletic director Joe Castiglione  saw the video before deciding the punishment.

Mixon rejoined the team in the spring of 2015, less than a year after the incident.
