Fresh off their win over Texas in the Red River Showdown last week, the Oklahoma Sooners return home to play the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Oklahoma heads into this game at a perfect 6-0 and having beaten West Virginia in seven straight games. The Sooners are overwhelming favorites to win the Big 12 title and make the College Football Playoff. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is playing far better for Lincoln Riley than he ever did under Nick Saban at Alabama, and is now a Heisman Trophy front-runner.
West Virginia has struggled in the first year under head coach Neal Brown. They’re 3-3 on the season and have allowed at least 38 points in each of their three losses.
Last year the two teams scored over 110 points in an Oklahoma win, but the Sooners’ defense doesn’t look like it’ll be giving up a sum like that to the Mountaineers this year.
Here are the details for the game:
Game Time: 12:00 PM ET
Spread: Oklahoma -33
Announcers: Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt, Jenny Taft
The game will also be a bit of a homecoming for Mountaineers quarterback Austin Kendall. A former Sooner, Kendall transferred to West Virginia after the team landed Hurts in the transfer portal. That move wasn’t without a fair amount of controversy though.
Whether Kendall has the talent to lead West Virginia to an upset or not, he’ll be super-motivated for this one.
