Baker Mayfield is your 2017 Heisman Trophy winner.

As expected, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield won the 2017 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night.

Check it out:

The ceremony was more a formality than anything else, as Mayfield's play this season has been sensational. The senior threw for 4,340 yards and 41(!) touchdowns with just five interceptions this season, and he added 310 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Louisville's Lamar Jackson and Stanford's Bryce Love are fine players, and they deserved to share the stage with Mayfield as finalists, but the Oklahoma signal-caller was on an entirely different level this year, and it showed as he carried the Sooners to an 11-1 record in the regular season and a Big 12 championship. Whether it's fair or not, team narratives do count, and it would have been hard to deny Mayfield the trophy after what he did for Oklahoma this year.

Next up for Mayfield? A matchup versus Georgia on New Year's Day for a spot in the national title game.
