Orlando Brown Is Having A Rough NFL Combine

Orlando Brown runs the 40-yard dash.

The 2018 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is underway. Yesterday was bench press day for some of the top prospects, and this morning the offensive linemen ran the 40-yard dash.

Running backs like Saquon Barkley and Nick Chubb put up ridiculously impressive totals in the bench press yesterday. Barkley and Chubb both put up 29 reps at 225 pounds.

Other prospects did not fare as well. Specifically, a potential first round pick.

Orlando Brown, one of the top offensive tackles in the 2018 class, did not have a good day on the bench press, and is having an equally awful performance this morning as well.

The 6-foot-7, 345-pound lineman did 14 reps on the bench press, and just ran two splits of the 40-yard dash. Brown ran a 5.86 and 5.77, both of which were heavily criticized after he was done.

NFL analyst Mike Mayock said Brown's 40 was "historically bad" and many seem to agree. It's not a great start for Brown, who entered the combine as a fringe first-round prospect.

Brown's lack of speed is surprising, given the offense he played in at Oklahoma. The fast-paced offense doesn't lend itself to a slow offensive lineman, but Brown displayed plenty of athleticism on tape.

The NFL Combine continues through Monday. It's being televised on NFL Network.
