Report: Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops Is Retiring

A coaching bombshell is reportedly set to rock the college football world today.

Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops is retiring, according to a new report from NewsOk.com's Berry Tramel. Stoops has been the head coach at OU since 1999.

Per Tramel, Sooners offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley will take over as head coach. The 33-year-old is regarded as one of the biggest rising stars in coaching.

This is obviously a stunning move. No one had been hinting at this, and Stoops is only 56 years old. Apparently, health is not involved.

In his 18 years in Norman, Stoops led the Sooners to a 190-48 record. He reached a bowl game every season, and registered victories in the five biggest bowl games (Cotton, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar).

He led OU to a national championship in 2000.

We will update this story as more details emerge.
