Earlier this week, former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts officially announced he'd be transferring to Oklahoma, where he'll presumably be the starter for his final season of eligibility. The news came just a day or two after Sooners signal-caller Austin Kendall announced he'd be transferring from the school.
While Oklahoma still has 2018 recruit Tanner Mordecai on its roster, many believe that the quarterback of the future in Norman is incoming freshman Spencer Rattler. The Hurts news means that Rattler, assuming he's as advertised, will have to wait a year.
After the Hurts news broke, Rattler and his family made it clear they were supportive of Oklahoma's decision. Rattler's Twitter post Friday night all but assures that.
Rattler took to Twitter to post a photo of himself and Hurts at some kind of function. It looks like their relationship is off to a good start.
The caption? "Iron sharpens iron." In other words, he thinks Hurts is going to make him a better player.
Check it out. Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley just retweeted it as well.
Oklahoma has produced the last two Heisman Trophy winners, and with Hurts in tow, it doesn't look like the Sooners are going to slow down on offense. Don't be shocked if they're back in the College Football Playoff again next year.
