Former Oklahoma wideout Sterling Shepard, who was taken by the New York Giants 40th overall in this past week's draft, lost his father, Derrick, to a heart attack when he was just six years old. This season, he'll pay tribute to his father every time he takes the field.
Derrick Shepard, who also played at Oklahoma, wore No. 87 for the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL. Sterling will also be wearing No. 87 to start his career. The New York Giants announced the news Friday.
