Not quite a Murderers' Row of schools.

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield's football journey is the stuff of Hollywood legends.

A largely unwanted three-star recruit--he didn't even crack the Top 1,000 players in his class--Mayfield walked on at Texas Tech and won the job. When Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kinsgbury balked at putting him on scholarship, Mayfield transferred to Oklahoma.

In his third year as the starter at OU, Mayfield is the Heisman front-runner and a potential No. 1 draft pick in the NFL. Not bad for a kid who only had offers from four FBS schools coming out of Austin (Tex.) Lake Travis High School.

The only four FBS schools to offer Mayfield: FAU, New Mexico, Rice and Washington State.

Mayfield is a pretty good example of betting on yourself and trusting your ability.

He's already a legend in Norman, and if he helps the Sooners win a national title, he might vault himself to a deity-like status.
