In a day full of dramatic finishes and buzzer beaters, college basketball player of the year candidate Buddy Hield came up just a fraction of a second short. The Oklahoma star nearly won the Sooners their Big 12 semifinal against West Virginia with an amazing half-court shot, which was eventually waved off, as the ball was still on his fingertips at the buzzer. Of course, that wasn’t apparent live, and the resulting call from Oklahoma’s radio team was excellent.

West Virginia played a great game and deserves the championship berth, but I don’t imagine many fans were rooting against Buddy, and another potential epic Kansas-Oklahoma game, there.
