On Friday afternoon, Oklahoma quarterback Austin Kendall’s name popped up in the transfer portal. The immediate reaction from around the college football world was shock, wondering why Kendall decided to do this now, when it looks like he had a clear path to the starting role.
However, maybe Kendall knows something we don’t. Kyler Murray is likely headed to the NFL or to the MLB after a highly successful season with the Sooners.
But what if he’s not? What if Murray and Kendall spoke, and Murray plans to return to the Sooners for another year?
After losing to Alabama, Murray said he wasn’t satisfied with the job Oklahoma did this season. Could that unsatisfied feeling lead to Murray coming back to Oklahoma for another year and passing up millions from the NFL and MLB?
Just over a week ago, longtime NFL scout Gil Brandt suggested a return was possible.
Two things I wouldn't be shocked if they happened in 2019:
1. Kliff Kingsbury was an NFL HC
2. Kyler Murray returned to OU

Now with Austin Kendall in the portal, does that become more likely?
Murray is a projected first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft if he chooses that route.
