Barry Sanders Jr. took a backseat to Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffery this season, totaling 315 rushing yards and four touchdowns as the second back for Stanford. Sanders, who has one year of eligibility remaining, will transfer after graduating in June, and one potential destination is his father's alma mater, Oklahoma State. He spoke with The Oklahomanabout the possibility of heading to Stillwater for his final year.
When asked specifically about OSU — where his father Barry Sanders starred — he sounded hopeful of landing in Stillwater.
“That's definitely an option,” Sanders said. “I have not been in contact with those guys yet, but I would like to see what they have to offer. Hopefully we can find some common ground.”
His father, Barry Sanders, won the 1988 Heisman after an historic season in which he rushed for 2,850 yards and scored 42 touchdowns on the ground. Sanders Jr. may not be the same back, but seeing him in orange and black would be pretty cool.
