Oklahoma football awarded a scholarship to a popular senior walk-on on Friday.
Jaxon Uhles, a Norman native, is entering his fifth year with the program, and just days ahead of his final year, he was awarded a full scholarship.
Head coach Lincoln Riley announced the move as practice wrapped on Friday morning, and had the team break practice by celebrating Uhles.
Video of the announcement, which followed by Uhles being mobbed by his teammates, is fantastic.

Riley and Uhles discussed this new scholarship with Oklahoma’s media team:
“He embodies everything that we want for this program,” Riley said. “It’s a special moment for him and he’s earned it. It’s hard for walk-ons to do but he’s definitely earned it and we want everybody out there to know if they come to Oklahoma and work like he has, anything is possible.”
“It means a lot,” Uhles said. “Four or five years of hard work pays off. It’s always been a dream here, and now being put on scholarship is very special.”
Uhles has played in 25 straight games for the Sooners, and graduated in May with a degree in human relations.
