Oklahoma State donor T. Boone Pickens tells it how it is.
Big 12 expansion talk continues to be a major topic of discussion and T. Boone Pickens has delivered his two cents on the matter.
On Tuesday, reports surfaced that Oklahoma president David Boren was against the 10-team league on expanding. He then stated that "Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion."
Pickens, who has donated $500 million to Oklahoma State, weighed in not only on Boren but Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy as well. The chairman of BP Capital Management also said that he would prefer Houston and SMU to be the two teams added to the conference if expansion does indeed happen.
Per Kirk Bohls of The Austin American-Statesman:
“I’ve known David forever. He likes to talk. He gets a little bit confused sometimes,” Pickens said. He also suggested “maybe it’s time for David to retire.”
Pickens didn't keep anything close guard when talking about Gundy, either:
“I don’t have any conversations with Gundy,” he said. Is there a rift? “I don’t know, but Mike doesn’t handle people relationships very well. And he gets mad about things. I’ve heard he’s written some notes about me that weren’t very complimentary."
