We're just days—DAYS!—from the start of the 2019 college football season. Week Zero kicks off on Saturday, with a bigger-than-usual match-up between Florida and Miami, and a smattering of other games.
That begins the countdown to bowl season. Obviously, college football is something to be enjoyed and savored all fall.
Still, for fans of the programs that are pretty certain to hit the six-win mark, it is fun to look ahead at where bowl season may send them. Luckily, we already have some projections for bowl season.
Jason Kirk of Vox Media's new college football site Banner Society (a spin-off of SB Nation) updated his bowl projections with the site's launch today.
Unfortunately for those who are rooting for a new title game match-up, he doesn't see it. Here are Banner Society's College Football Playoff and New Year's Six bowl projections:
Fiesta Bowl (Glendale, Ariz., CFP Semifinal): Alabama vs. Oklahoma
Peach Bowl (Atlanta, CFP Semifinal): Clemson vs. Ohio State
Cotton Bowl (Arlington, Texas): Boise State vs. LSU
Orange Bowl (Miami): Miami vs. Notre Dame
Rose Bowl (Pasadena, Calif.): Michigan vs. Washington
Sugar Bowl (New Orleans): Texas vs Georgia
LSU fans probably wouldn't love a second straight date with the Group of Five champion, and Texas and Georgia would be a rematch of last year, which isn't ideal. Texas and LSU are set to play in the regular season though, so the powers that be will avoid having that happen again.
Some other standout bowl projections:
Alamo Bowl (San Antonio): TCU vs. Oregon
Belk Bowl (Charlotte, N.C.): NC State vs. Kentucky
Birmingham Bowl (Birmingham, Ala.): Indiana vs. South Carolina
Camping World Bowl (Orlando, Fla.): Florida State vs. Iowa State
Citrus Bowl (Orlando, Fla.): Nebraska vs. Florida
Gator Bowl (Jacksonville, Fla.): Michigan State vs. Tennessee
Music City Bowl (Nashville, Tenn.): Virginia Tech vs. Texas A&M
Outback Bowl (Tampa, Fla.): Penn State vs. Auburn
Redbox Bowl (Santa Clara, Calif.): Iowa vs. Washington State
